There are definitely lots of mug cake recipes out there which I have tried but most of them caused ton of disappointment after it was made. Some of them came out extremely sticky or dry, so I ended up tweaking the recipe until I got the best light airy- moist texture. I wont lie but first three times I was adjusting the recipe, it came out horrible and fourth time was a charm!

How to make a mug cake
- Add all the dry ingredients

MUG CAKE TIPS
- Use a large 14 ounce mug to prevent spilling in the microwave.
- Mug will be extremely hot after cooking in the microwave, allow to sit for couple minutes prior eating.
- You can add choice of toppings on top – fruits, nuts, chocolates, sprinkles, nut butter

For chocolate mug cake
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cocoa powder
¼ tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup whole milk
2 tbsp canola oil
¼ tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp chocolate chips
For caramel mug cake
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup whole milk
2 tbsp canola oil
½ tsp vanilla extract
3 caramel candies (chopped in small pieces)



Method
For chocolate mug cake
Into tall microwave safe coffee mug, add the flour, sugar, cocoa power, baking powder, and salt. Stir with a fork. Add milk, oil, and vanilla and stir until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips. Microwave for 80-90 seconds, then let the cake stand for 1 minute before eating. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
For caramel mug cake
Into tall microwave safe coffee mug, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir with a fork. Add milk, oil, and vanilla and stir until smooth. Stir in the chopped caramel candies, leaving 3-4 pieces set aside. Microwave for 80-90 seconds. Add couple chopped caramel candies on top and let the cake stand for 1 minute before eating. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
